Blessings from the garden. . .

On a previous post I mentioned how we decided to plant quite a large garden this year. Hmmm let's see, we have corn, lima beans, okra, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, greens, watermelons, cantaloupe, and potatoes. I don't think I left anything out. It has been quite a wonderful blessing every day to look out the kitchen window and see the bountiful harvest quickly growing in the front yard! I have found it quite relaxing to be able to go out in the afternoon and work alongside the hubby "stringing up the beans" and whatnot. Well, today after church my hubby went out and "harvested" our first bounty from the garden. Fresh brocolli! The brocolli has been steadily growing and today it was ripe for picking or eating actually! I do believe it was some of the best brocolli I have ever tasted!

Fresh broccoli is awesome! We have quite a bit to put in yet. Of course, we are in Iowa on the Minnesota border. We try to put in our garden early every year around April and we end up covering a lot of it, but get to eat good stuff earlier too, tho! I see my onions are shooting up, radishes, spinach, and lettuce.
