Lately people have been pushing "aromatherapy" as a great way to improve how you feel. I know from personal experience that some smells/fragrances can bring on a migraine in an instant. I was reading an article the other day and they had three suggestions for the most common ailments:
For Stress:
Lavender. In studies people who smelled lavender or lavender oil for just a few minutes experienced a drop in the stress hormone cortisol. To use, set out a bowl of lavender potpourri.
To Increase Energy:
Citrus. Studies show that citrus scents stimulate the trigeminal nerve which is the part of the brain that makes you feel more alert. To use, drink a glass of OJ with breakfast.
Relief for that Headache:
Green Apple. Recent studies have shown that people suffering from migraines have felt relief when inhaling this scent at the onset. To use, take a whiff of a sliced green apple.
